Best camera for sports photography for beginners

If you’re looking for a camera to capture sports photos and are a beginner, you must have looked at a few options. The terms and technologies, the best buy parameters, and features can quickly make this a confusing exercise. This discussion will examine the significant parameters you should consider when selecting a sports camera. At the same time, we’ll also look at a few options you pick.

Frame rate

The first and foremost thing is the frame rate. You can’t have a sports camera that doesn’t shoot enough frames. At least eight frames are a must. But you can look for around ten frames per second to give yourself enough frames to work with. The simple rule is that the more frames you have, the better your chances of getting at least one frame where the shot is crisp.

The Canon EOS 90D is a good camera because it offers ten fps continuous shooting speed and costs a reasonable amount of money to own. Among the cheaper mirrorless options, you can also look at the Sony a6400. It can shoot at a maximum frame rate of 11 frames per second.

Superior autofocusing, subject tracking, and Eye-AF

The a6400 is a fantastic camera for shooting sports because it also has real-time Eye AF & Real-Time tracking. Both these technologies help track and follow a sportsperson as they move. This helps to capture a better-focused image than possible without this technology.

Weather resistance

Weather resistance is essential when you’re headed out and expect the weather to turn bad. If a camera is weather resistant, it allows you to shoot outdoors, even in inclement weather. It does not limit you or your work. Now, weather resistance isn’t a feature that’s common with entry-level cameras. There are Pentax cameras that come with weather resistance and still come on a friendly budget. However, those cameras don’t have a very high frame rate, and the autofocusing isn’t like some of the Canon and Sony models. The Pentax K-70 is one such camera. It’s weather resistant but has only six fps continuous shooting speed. You’ve to increase your budget to get something like the Nikon D850, a full-frame camera with a solid weather seal (not weather resistant). The D850 shoots at a maximum frame rate of 7 fps which is still less than the expected frame rate. You can also look at the Canon EOS 90D.
